Ingrid Tremblay

Portrait Ingrid Tremblay.jpeg

In her work, Ingrid Tremblay seeks to delve deeper into the memories, stories or affects of the objects and materials she finds. Marked by a strong material and sensory presence, her works create a dialogue between the natural and the artificial, the living and the inanimate, the handmade and the industrial. Playing on the frontiers of the real and the imaginary, her sculptures approach each other like fragments of stories with a rich and poetic evocative potential.

Originally from Quebec and Syria, Ingrid Tremblay lives and works in Montreal. She holds a Master's degree in Sculpture + Extended Media from the University of Texas at Austin (USA). Her career includes numerous solo and group exhibitions in Quebec, the United States, and Europe as well as multiple residencies in the United States and Italy. She is also the recipient of several major scholarships such as the VCUarts Fountainhead Fellowship in Sculpture and the Graduate School Recruitment Fellowship from the University of Texas at Austin. Her work can be found in the collections of the Carving Studio & Sculpture Center (USA), the Djerassi Resident Artists Program (USA) and the City of Montreal.
