Sophia Borowska is an artist and weaver who combines textile processes with building materials such as wood, cement, and steel in an approach that addresses the architectural environment. Through the use of architecture and textiles, largely invested with distinct gendered connotations, she adopts a feminist stance. Borowska creates works that combine the hard with the soft, the monumental with the intimate, the rational with the disorderly and the grandiose with the abject.

Sophia Borowska lives and works in Tiohtia:ke/Montreal and holds a BFA from Concordia University. She has exhibited in Canada, Denmark and France.  Her sculptural practice has earned her several awards and grants from institutions such as the Handweaver's Guild of America, the Canada Council for the Arts, CALQ and SODEC.
